GOL's Enterprise team helps Croydon college succeed
 |
Norbury Manor Girls Business and Enterprise College |
In November 2004 GOL's Enterprise team was asked by Norbury Manor Business and Enterprise College to help them put together a business plan for an exciting project set to benefit pupils, and the wider community, in north Croydon.
The project aims to build and develop a business and education centre accessible to pupils, local businesses and the wider community. Its objective is to achieve the integration of business into education to provide opportunities for young people to develop economic awareness, and the skills needed to make them valuable and productive employees.
The proposal involves the construction of a two storey purpose built facility which will include incubator units, hot desks for budding entrepreneurs, and affordable conference space. It will also have a one-stop shop for business advice including an outreach facility for the local Chamber and increase the provision for 14-19 year old students in collaboration with other schools and colleges.
Head teacher Carol Nicholls hosted a reception for local businesses and Councillors to gain support for the initiative. As well as support from the local authority Carol will be approaching businesses in the area with a view to obtaining either funding or in kind contributions to the project. A number of avenues are currently being explored for funding, with a target in the region of £4million identified in the business plan.
