Celebrating 'Community Chest' Funding in Tower Hamlets
Staff from the Government Office for London joined St Katharine & Shadwell Trust, the Community Organisations Forum, Councillors, business people and representatives of over 100 community groups that have had grants from the 'Community Chest' and 'Community Learning Chest', at an event in the Tower of London called 'Celebrating Tower Hamlets' on 10th March.
The Governor of the Tower of London who is also a Governor of the Trust was present, and provided the Tower's banqueting suite for the event in celebration of the Trust making grants of over £1million throughout the Borough since 2002.
Groups gave presentations about their projects and how grants had worked for them to make a difference in their communities.
The 20 Neighbourhood Renewal areas in London will receive through the Government Office for London a total of £21.3 million Neighbourhood Renewal Community Chest funds over 5 years, £2.1 million of which will go to Tower Hamlets. London will also receive a total of £4.7 million Community Learning Chest over 4 years, nearly £440,000 of which will go to Tower Hamlets.
