| Stanley Eguruze used his Community Champions
Grant to carry out a local needs assessment for the ILAW Youth
Link project in Battersea, which increases his chances of
receiving future funding. The project promotes African culture,
arts and languages and provides a wide range of services for
young people.
Khadija Hussein used her award to bring the Sudanese community
together. Through her Sudanese Mothers of Peace Charity she
has been working with children and young people, to help unite
people originating from North and South Sudan.
John Munday started the Roundshaw Live Music Club with his
award. Meeting every week at the local community centre the
club is open to all signers and musicians, whether they are
beginners or experts. John believes music is an effective
way to bring people together and break down barriers.
The Awards were presented by So Rahman, Granada TV Reporter
and Presenter, who congratulated the winners and spoke of
the importance of people getting involved in community activity. |
